Hail To The Chief!

At 3:30 pm on the afternoon of May 14, 2010,  Deputy Chief Alan Patalano was appointed as the 16th Chief of the Long Beach Fire Department.  Chief Patalano has served as a Deputy Chief for the last 8 years and, with the help of Deputy Chief Garcia and Deputy Chief Reeb, has been managing the department since the retirement of Fire Chief Dave Ellis last year. As Deputy Chief of Support Services he was responsible for the management of LBFD’s Training Division, EMS Education and Quality Improvement Division, as well as the Fire Communications Center. Chief Patalano has been a member of LBFD for 25 years and before this served for 4 years with Escondido Fire Department.  Patalano graduated from Hacienda Heights High School and is married with two grown children, a daughter married to a Marine and a son who is an ensign in the Navy and currently serving in Afghanistan.   We are proud to congratulate Fire Chief Patalano!
