Sunrise Boulevard Apartment Fire

By Matthew Dobberpuhl | January 31, 2014

The Long Beach Fire Department received calls for a structure fire on the 800 block of Sunrise Boulevard at 10:39am today.  First arriving units reported heavy smoke issuing from a fully involved second floor unit of a two story apartment building.  Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack on the fire while other crews worked from the roof to ventilate the structure and cut off fire extension in the attic. The fire was contained to the unit of origin, however this unit and the unit below sustained damage and are currently uninhabitable. No occupants were present at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

No further information is available at this time.
