The event will be held at 2100 E. Ocean Blvd., with the access at the foot of Junipero Ave., west end of the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>The exam schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"unIndentedList\">\n<li>8:00 am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Briefing and Sign up<\/li>\n<li>9:00 am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ocean swim, 1000 yards<\/li>\n<li>9:30 am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Run-Swim-Run<\/li>\n<li>12:00 pm\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Announce candidate list for oral interviews<\/li>\n<li>12:30 pm\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oral Interviews<\/li>\n<li>3:00 pm\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Conclude<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The qualified candidates will be notified via telephone, and they will have a new employee orientation the following weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples of duties:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"unIndentedList\">\n<li>Watch a designated section of the beach and water from an assigned station<\/li>\n<li>Respond to calls for service<\/li>\n<li>Warn bathers of beach and water hazards<\/li>\n<li>Perform rescues, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation<\/li>\n<li>Use and maintain equipment<\/li>\n<li>Take charge of lost children<\/li>\n<li>Answer questions of beach visitors<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a crewmember or ride-a-long on rescue boats and in lifeguard vehicles<\/li>\n<li>Perform other related duties as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact the LBFD&#8217;s Beach Operations at (562) 570-1360<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Bring a swimsuit, towel, social security card and any picture ID, because on Sunday, April 5th at 8:00 am, the Long Beach Fire Department Beach operations will hold a 1-day exam for those interested in becoming a lifeguard.
