{"id":2286,"date":"2010-06-27T10:22:04","date_gmt":"2010-06-27T18:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2286"},"modified":"2010-06-27T10:22:04","modified_gmt":"2010-06-27T18:22:04","slug":"tragedy-narrowly-averted-off-the-shore-of-long-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2286","title":{"rendered":"Tragedy Narrowly Averted Off The Shore Of Long Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just before 1:00 AM on the\u00a0morning of June 27, 2010, the Long Beach Fire Department received a call, through the Coast Guard, for a boat that had capsized just outside the breakwater with people in the water.\u00a0 LBFD Rescue Boat 1 and Boat 15 responded and were on scene at the Queens Gate area of the breakwater within minutes.\u00a0 The boat crews found that an 11 foot aluminum fishing boat had in fact capsized, tossing the 2 adult male passengers into the sea.\u00a0 A pilot boat happened to be in the area and managed to pull the two onto their vessel as the fireboats arrived.\u00a0 The patients were then transferred to Boat 15 and were transported to shore for ongoing medical evaluation.
