{"id":2405,"date":"2010-08-25T13:01:57","date_gmt":"2010-08-25T21:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2405"},"modified":"2010-08-25T13:05:06","modified_gmt":"2010-08-25T21:05:06","slug":"crane-operator-trapped-when-a-compressed-cylinder-explodes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2405","title":{"rendered":"Crane Operator Trapped When A Compressed Cylinder Explodes"},"content":{"rendered":"ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>Just after 11:30 a.m. this morning, units from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to Pacific Coast Recycling located at 482 Pier T Ave to a report of a crane operator who had been trapped inside of his crane due to an explosion.\u00a0 The crane operator, who appeared to be in his 60\u2019s, was moving a pile of debris when a pressurized cylinder within the pile exploded.\u00a0 The blast sent both ends of the cylinder rocketing in opposite directions.\u00a0 On of the ends struck the cab of the crane, trapping the operator beneath the crane\u2019s protective steel cage.\u00a0 It took firefighters roughly 10 minutes to cut the man from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life.\u00a0 He was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
