{"id":2539,"date":"2010-11-18T21:22:05","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T05:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2539"},"modified":"2010-11-18T21:22:05","modified_gmt":"2010-11-19T05:22:05","slug":"potential-explosion-hazard-on-the-710-freeway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2539","title":{"rendered":"Potential Explosion Hazard on the 710 Freeway"},"content":{"rendered":"ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>Just after 11:00 am today, the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) was called for reports of a tractor-trailer with a fuel tank fire that was actively leaking fuel on the Eastbound Gerald Desmond to the Northbound 710 freeway interchange.\u00a0 Upon Engine 6\u2019s arrival they found a container truck that was pulled over with one of it\u2019s saddle tanks rapidly leaking Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) out of it but luckily there was no fire.\u00a0 Firefighters wasted no time and charged a hose to push the highly flammable LNG vapors away from the truck and any ignition sources.\u00a0 The other crewmembers also acted quickly to shutdown the freeway that was heavily congested.\u00a0 Fortunately the driver got out safely and was uninjured.\u00a0 When Firefighters were attempting to stop the leak they noticed an unknown chemical that was clearly visible in red around the leaking area.\u00a0 Because of this the LBFD Hazardous Material Team (HazMat 24) was immediately called out to identify the questionable substance. \u00a0Once the chemical was identified as safe to work around the Firefighters quickly stopped the leak and reopened the freeway. \u00a0The cause of the fuel tank leak is currently under investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the efforts of the LBFD, the highly flammable vapors that could have caused an enormous explosion were put at bay and the freeway was reopened with no injuries.\u00a0 There were a total of 16 Fire Department Apparatus and 43 personnel operating on this incident that took place in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Council District.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just after 11:00 am today, the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) was called for reports of a tractor-trailer with a fuel tank fire that was actively leaking fuel on the Eastbound Gerald Desmond to the Northbound 710 freeway interchange.\u00a0 Upon Engine 6\u2019s arrival they found a container truck that was pulled over with one of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2539","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-incidents"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2539","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2539"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2539\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2542,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2539\/revisions\/2542"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2539"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2539"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2539"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
