{"id":2543,"date":"2010-11-25T13:33:07","date_gmt":"2010-11-25T21:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2543"},"modified":"2010-11-25T13:33:07","modified_gmt":"2010-11-25T21:33:07","slug":"early-morning-2nd-story-apartment-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=2543","title":{"rendered":"Early Morning 2nd Story Apartment Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>Early this morning at 5:45am, Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) units were called to a reported structure fire at 264 Covina Ave. \u00a0Upon Engine 8\u2019s arrival, crew members found thick smoke and fire pouring out of the second story window of a four-plex.\u00a0 Heavy black smoke was also seen rapidly coming out of the attic vents throughout the roof.\u00a0 After an aggressive interior attack, the fire was extinguished in the kitchen as efforts then turned to the attic area above. \u00a0As Truck 14 began ventilating the roof, the roof deck collapsed causing a firefighter to fall into the attic space below.\u00a0 After a few minutes the firefighter was rescued and luckily without any injury.\u00a0 A primary search located two cats that were overcome by smoke inhalation.\u00a0 Resuscitation efforts by Rescue 14 were unfortunately not successful even with the use of specialized animal masks. \u00a0It was fortunate however, that the resident of the involved unit was not home at the time of the fire. \u00a0One elderly female in an adjacent unit was examined by paramedics and did not require hospitalization.<\/p>\n<p>The LBFD Arson Units are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of this blaze. \u00a0There were a total of eight LBFD apparatus that responded with 19 personnel operating on scene. \u00a0This incident occurred in the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Council District and had units from the Long Beach Gas Department, Animal Control, and Southern California Edison also assisting.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Early this morning at 5:45am, Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) units were called to a reported structure fire at 264 Covina Ave. \u00a0Upon Engine 8\u2019s arrival, crew members found thick smoke and fire pouring out of the second story window of a four-plex.\u00a0 Heavy black smoke was also seen rapidly coming out of the attic [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2543","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-incidents"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2543","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2543"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2543\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2548,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2543\/revisions\/2548"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2543"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2543"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2543"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
