This all-new fire station, the first to be built in 22 years, is a<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>$12-million home for firefighters trained to battle the most dangerous and potentially toxic industrial blazes known to man and is located in the Port of Long Beach. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As part of the celebration, the Honor Guards raised the American Flag, bagpipes played and firefighters took part in the ceremonial &#8220;push-in&#8221; of a fire truck into the firehouse bay, signifying the final effort to make Fire Station No. 24 operational.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Built with Port of Long Beach funding, the station will house an Engine Company and a Hazardous Materials apparatus. &#8220;This station will provide the Long Beach Fire Department with an important base in the midst of the Port, and provide for improved service to the tenants in the Port, as well as the entire community&#8221;. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">By 2010, Port authorities plan to replace port fire stations 15 and 20, which house the city\u2019s firefighting boats.
