{"id":3134,"date":"2011-08-24T21:20:23","date_gmt":"2011-08-25T05:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=3134"},"modified":"2011-08-24T21:43:55","modified_gmt":"2011-08-25T05:43:55","slug":"2011-lbfd-kids-beach-fest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=3134","title":{"rendered":"2011 LBFD Kids Beach Fest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<strong>ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On August the 17<sup>th<\/sup>, 2011 the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) once again teamed up with Millers Children\u2019s Hospital to participate in the annual \u201cBeach Fest Day\u201d, as a part of the LBFD Kids Program.\u00a0 The mission of the program has always been to enhance the lives and well being of the chronically ill children at Millers Hospital through smiles and laughter.\u00a0 This has been a longstanding tradition that was started back in the 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event had about 23 on and off-duty firefighters in attendance that spent time with the young hospital patients, escorting them around to various activities that were set up in the large tropically themed room.\u00a0 Activities ranged from live music and dancing, to face painting, tic tac toe, a DJ for music, and the always popular bubble show.
