{"id":571,"date":"2009-11-24T13:03:27","date_gmt":"2009-11-24T21:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=571"},"modified":"2009-11-24T13:10:40","modified_gmt":"2009-11-24T21:10:40","slug":"lbfd-spark-of-love-sol-campaign-kicks-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=571","title":{"rendered":"LBFD Spark of Love (SOL) Campaign Kicks Off"},"content":{"rendered":"ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Spark of Love Program Description<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the early 1950&#8217;s, firefighter Murray Cohn started collecting toys for needy kids in the area surrounding his fire station.\u00a0 This labor of love and generosity took root and grew to other crews in surrounding stations helping the cause and providing for even more kids.\u00a0 Upon Cohn&#8217;s retirement, Captain Jim Salisbury took over for several years.\u00a0 Captain Bob Caldon (retired) ran the toy program for over 20 years, and now other LBFD members wishing to carry on the traditions from long ago have taken on the program, to help hundreds of needy families each year.<\/p>\n<p>In 1992, a cooperative decision was made to develop a regional toy drive.\u00a0 Known as the &#8220;<em>Spark of Love<\/em>,&#8221;
