{"id":899,"date":"2009-02-07T15:20:19","date_gmt":"2009-02-07T23:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=899"},"modified":"2009-02-07T15:20:19","modified_gmt":"2009-02-07T23:20:19","slug":"flooded-homes-on-the-west-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firechannel.org\/blog\/?p=899","title":{"rendered":"Flooded Homes On The West Side"},"content":{"rendered":"ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p><strong>At 7:38 am this morning, Long Beach Fire Department units responded to a report of a flooded residence located at 2334 Arlington.\u00a0 Once onscene, it became apparent there were numerous residences affected by the rising water from heavy rainfall. It was reported that there were up to 30 homes flooded with standing water up to 2-3 feet in some. There were also numerous stranded vehicles in the area.\u00a0 The affected area stretched from Santa Fe to the city limit and from Wardlow to Arlington.\u00a0 Numerous LBFD units including: engines, trucks, rescues, USAR 6, swift water rescue, search and rescue, Battalion Chiefs, and the mobile command center responded to this incident.\u00a0 An evacuation center was set up at Cabrillo High School located at 1300 W Hill Street.\u00a0 This was done in conjunction with the American Red Cross. Initially, Long Beach transit buses were provided to re-locate stranded families to the evacuation center.
