Apartment Fire on Grand

On Tuesday, 14 April 2009 at 22:25:52, the Long Beach Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 1534 Grand Ave. Units responding were Battalion 2, Engine 17, Engine 4, Engine 14, Truck 14 and Rescue 14. BC2, E17, E4, E14, T14 and R14.

Upon arrival, Engine 17, the first unit on scene, found the ground floor of a two-story apartment well involved in fire and flames extending to the second floor windows. Engine 4 joined Engine 17 in attacking the fire and Engine 14 searched the floor above. Truck 14 provided ventilation and lights while Rescue 14 was ready for any injuries.

Salvage and overhaul were conducted to extinguish any deep-seated embers and Public Works provided “board-up” to secure the property.

There were no injuries of civilians or firefighters, utilities were not involved, the owner/occupant arranged their own housing and declined the offer for Red Cross assistance

A total of 6 apparatus and 19 personnel responded to this call. The last unit on scene, E17, cleared the scene at 23:54:46.
