Big Rig Overturns on Harbor Scenic Drive

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to reports of an overturned big rig at 12:15pm today. Firefighters found a large tractor-trailer that had rolled onto its left side near 1600 Harbor Scenic Dr. The driver, a male believed to be in his 40’s, was trapped in the cab of the truck. Firefighters used a reciprocating saw to cut a hole in the roof of the cab so that they could access the patient. The patient was then stabilized and safely extricated from the wreckage. Firefighters from Rescue 1 transported him to St. Mary’s Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. Two Battalion Chiefs and 15 Firefighters responded to this incident that occurred in the 2nd Council District.
