Long Beach Fire Department Encourages Water Safety Practices

With the summer months approaching, the Long Beach Fire Department and its Marine Safety Division encourages residents to practice safety in and around water to prevent drowning and injuries from occurring. Statistics show that drowning is the third leading cause of accidental death for all age groups in the United States, the second leading cause of accidental death among children under 14 years of age and the leading cause of accidental death for children 5 and under.
