Incident Command System Class
By Steve Yamamoto | October 17, 2011
On October 11th through the 13th, 2011, the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) Training Center hosted an Incident Command System or ICS class. Firefighter from as far away as San Diego and the Bay Area attended this three-day class on Intermediate Incident Command (ICS-300). The 28 students (nine from the LBFD) discussed various incident management topics including setting and meeting objectives, command processes, and resource management. In addition, students participated in multiple scenarios including the drafting of an Incident Action Plan (IAP) as well as providing Operational Briefings. The class was instructed by the LBFD’s very own Captain Jim Underwood and Battalion Chief Jeff Ohs. This is just one of the many classes that Firefighters complete in order to further their skills and knowledge for their profession.
