Structure Fire In A Second Story Apartment

On the evening of December 5 at 5:35 PM, Long Beach Fire Department units were called to 446 Cerritos Avenue to a report of a structure fire. Units arrive onscene to find a second story apartment unit well involved. Firefighters from Engine 2, Engine 10, and Engine 1 made an aggressive interior attack and managed to contain the fire to the area of origin. Truck 1 provided vertical ventilation with the assistance of Rescue 2. There were no injuries reported to either citizens or to firefighters. 5 adults and 2 minor children were displaced from the involved unit and the unit below. Both families were referred to The Red Cross. 26 firefighters responded to this incident, which occurred in council district 2.
