Early Morning Freeway Accident Shuts Down 405

This morning at 0322 hours, the southbound 405 Freeway was closed to all traffic as Engines 5, and 18, Truck 19, Rescue 17, BLS 17 and Battalion 2 freed two trapped victims from a car using the “Jaws of Life”.
Two vehicles were involved. The first, whose occupant escaped unharmed, burst into flames shortly after the accident. While Engine 5 extinguished the car fire, Engine 18, Truck 19, Rescue 17 and BLS 17 attended to the second vehicles. After a 10-minute extrication, two patients were transported to a local Trauma Center in stable condition. California Highway Patrol was able to reopen the freeway.
