Quick Action Prevents Major Damage To A West Long Beach Home

Just after 11:00 on the morning of August 11, 2009, units from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to 2637 Fashion Ave to a report of a house fire. There was a large column of smoke that was visible to all incoming companies. Upon arrival engine 13 found an attached storage area to the rear of single-family home ablaze with fire rapidly spreading to the main house. Fire department members mounted a rapid assault on the flames and managed to hold the fire to the area of origin and prevent further damage to the main structure. The owner of the residence was home at the time of the fire and called 911 when it became clear the fire was beyond his control. The first fire engine arrived 3 minutes after the time of dispatch. A total of 21 firefighters responded to this incident achieving complete control of the fire in a matter of minutes. There were no reports of injuries to firefighters or citizens.
