Bedroom Closet Fire
By JJohnson | April 22, 2009
The call came in at 1:50pm on 4/22/09 for reports of a house fire on the 3900 block of California Ave. Engine 9 was first on scene and reported smoke coming from multiple windows on the second floor of the single family dwelling.
They initiated fire attack by pulling their “Hotline” (1 3/4″ hose that the LBFD uses for interior fires) and getting quickly to the seat of the fire and stopping it from spreading to rest of the house. Engine 11 and 12 helped 9’s with the fire attack and Truck 11 laddered the 2 story house and proceeded to cut a heat hole, which is designed to release the heat and smoke from the involved room directly below them.
Engine 9 found the upstairs closet in one of the bedrooms fully invovled and were able to knock the fire down quickly. Arson investigators were called out due to the suspicious nature of how the fire started.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Total units on scene consisted of the following: E9, R9, E11, T11, E12, BC1, PIO4
