House Fire Ignites in North Long Beach

By Steve Yamamoto | November 25, 2010

On Thanksgiving Day at around 6:00 pm, units from the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) responded to a call of a reported house fire at 2108 E. 64th St. The passer-by stated they could see lots of smoke coming out of the home.  Within minutes, Engine 12 arrived on scene and saw that there was heavy black smoke coming from the two-story house.  Firefighters quickly charged their hose-line and forced entry through the front door.  Because of an aggressive interior attack they quickly located the seat of the fire and extinguished the blaze before further damage could take place.  Fortunately no one was injured due to the fact that the occupants were not home at the time of the fire.  Sadly, five people were displaced from their home until repairs can be made and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

There were a total of eight Fire Department apparatus and 21 personnel operating on scene of this fire that took place in the 9th Council District.
