Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the wptouch-pro domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Mobile Home Explosion and Fire

By frhayes | December 9, 2008

On Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) responded to the reports of an explosion in the 5500 block of Long Beach Blvd. Units that responded included BC3, E12, E9, E7, T11, R11, R12, ARSN1, PIO1, ARSN2, ARSN3 and ARSN4. Upon arrival LBFD units found a Structure Fire that had been caused by an explosion.

Engine 9, the first arriving unit, arrived and found an approximate 70 year old male sitting by the front of his mobile home who had received second degree burns to his face. Rescue 11 treated and transported this patient to a local hospital in stable condition, while other units extinguished the fire, and performed salvage and overhaul operations.

Arson units on scene through their preliminary investigation have determined that the probable cause of the explosion and ensuing fire were due to the ignition of an accumulation of a large amount of natural gas. It appears that the occupant was in the process of repairing a heating unit, and that the gas escaped through the ducting system.

A total of 12 apparatus and 21 personnel responded to this call.

This incident occurred in council district 8.

The local media has been forwarded this information, with no interviews given.
