An Afternoon Traffic Accident Entraps One Patient And Injures Two Others

At 3:03 on the afternoon of May 24th, Engine 10, Truck 1, Rescue 10, Rescue 1, BLS16 and BC1 responded to a report of a two vehicle injury traffic accident with a possible trapped victim at the intersection of 10th St and Gardenia Ave. Once on scene it was discovered that a 35 year old female was trapped inside her vehicle. There were also two other patients requiring treatment but did not require extrication. It took the crew of Truck 1 ten minutes to cut the woman from the wreckage. Rescue 1 transported an approximately 12 year old male trauma patient to Long Beach Memorial. Rescue 10 transported the extricated 35 year old female trauma patient to St. Mary’s Medical Center. BLS 16 transported a 24 year old patient with minor injuries to St. Mary’s Medical Center. Fortunately, none of the patient’s injuries appeared life threatening. No other injuries were reported.
