LBFD Volunteer Appreciation Day

By miduree | September 29, 2008

Recently, the Long Beach Fire Department hosted the First Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day lunch at Fire Headquarters.  This event was meant to show the Department’s appreciation for the men and women from the community that volunteer their time and skills in carrying out the vaious programs the Fire Department is involved with.  Representatives from CERT, the Fire Museum, Search and Rescue, LBFD Kids, Junior Lifeguards and the Fire Ambassadors were in attendance.  Also in attendance were Command Staff members.

All attendees were treated to lunch by “Javy’s Tacos.”  Fire Chief Ellis thanked the volunteers for contributing their time and efforts to these worthy causes.  “These programs provide a valuable service to the community, and we would not be able to do it without you.”  said Chief Ellis, reiterating the point that the Long Beach Fire Department really is involved in more than fighting fires.

A good time was had by all in attendance, and many of the volunteers took the opportunity to tour the new Fire Headquarters building for the first time.

A big Thank You to all that volunteer their time for these programs…!
