710 Freeway Brush Fire
By JJohnson | June 5, 2008
On June 5th, shortly after 1200, Long Beach Fire Department units were dispatched to 2 seperate incidents on the South and North bound 710 freeway for reports of a brush fire. On scene, units determined that a truck had gone off the shoulder of the northbound 710 (between Del Amo and Long Beach Blvd) subsequently knocking over a telephone pole and cutting some power lines of 6 more poles. The fallen lines then caught the dry brush on fire, and with aggresive hose attacks, units quickly contained the brush fire to a small area. There were no injuries to Firefighters or Civilians.
A total of 24 Fire fighters with one Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
This occured in the 8th Council District.
