Vehicle Extrication on Anaheim Street

At 2:54 am the morning of February 3, 2009, Long Beach Fire Department units responded to the corner of Anaheim St. and Rose Ave. to a report of and injury traffic accident with possible trapped victims. Upon arrival, units found an early model Toyota that had been involved in a single vehicle collision with a tree. There were 5 youths in the car ranging in age from 15-20 years old. The LBFD heavy rescue unit was called to the scene to assist with the extrication of a 19-year-old male passenger. It took approx. 17 minutes to free the patient from the wreckage. He was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries. There was also another 15-year-old female patient who was transported with minor injuries. None of the other individuals in the vehicle desired treatment. E10, T1, R10, USAR 6, BLS 4, BLS 3 and BC 1 responded to this incident.
